Kubota will double its lineup of small construction machinery in North America to eight by 2025 in a bid to boost its market share in the region, according to a story posted on Nikkei Asian Review

Kubota will add two roughly 60-horsepower compact track loaders, which are smaller than current offerings. The company will also roll out two more skid steer loaders, one smaller and one bigger than those on the market.

The machines will be produced at plants in Japan. A new U.S. production facility is also under consideration.

North America is an important market for Kubota's compact construction machinery, an area of strength for the company. Sales are currently growing amid a healthy U.S. housing market. Kubota aims to lift its market share to about 30% from around 15%.

Kubota trails market leader Bobcat, which has a 40% share. Caterpillar, another rival, is also ahead of Kubota. Dealerships under Kubota's umbrella have asked for a thicker catalog in order to better compete in the market, according to the story.
