Georgia Dealership Plans to Promote Electric ZTR

Source: Covington News (Ga.)

June 9, 2010 —A Georgia equipment dealership plans to launch a campaign this summer to promote its electric zero-turn mower, the Hustler Zeon.

Owner Jerry Roseberry hopes to launch an advertising campaign in July that will include demonstrations for businesses and homes.

"We have yet to begin selling the mowers, but the demand is growing. By launching the campaign in July, the Zeon will be arriving to customers just in time for the fall season," Roseberry said. "Companies and individuals can contact us for demonstrations we will provide at their place."

Monroe Power Equipment Company has been serving the Covington area since 1991. It specializes in lawn-and-garden equipment, parts and repairs. Stocked with brand names like Hustler Excel Turf, Briggs & Stratton and Cub Cadet, MPE offer a wide variety of tools ranging from trimmers to tractors. The company is a certified Briggs & Stratton Master Service Center.

The Hustler Zeon is billed as the world's first all-electric zero-turn riding mower. Released in 2008, the Zeon won the Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award in 2009 and was also listed in the magazine's Top 10 brilliant innovations of the year.

The Zeon is charged with four 12-volt lead-acid batteries. The batteries not only powers twin decks motors that drive its pair of blades for a 42-inch-wide cut, it also runs twin hydrostatic drive motors, one at each wheel.

Operators can mow for 80 minutes — enough to cut an acre of grass — from a single charge.

"The Zeon manufacturers estimate savings of $1,050 in operating costs over 10 years, so not only will this save businesses and homes some money, but it will satisfy the environmentally conscious as well," Roseberry said.

In addition, the eco-friendly mower also has a 40 percent reduction in noise, which helps when in use around schools and businesses. At home, one can finally enjoy his sleep while neighbors tend to their lawn.
