Husqvarna Mum on Fate of 2009 Dividend
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Reuters) — Swedish garden and construction tool maker Husqvarna has not commented on whether it will pay a dividend for 2009, a company spokeswoman says following a media report.
In an article seen by Reuters, news agency Bloomberg cited on Sept. 22 that Husqvarna Chief Executive Officer Magnus Yngen as saying the firm would probably resume its payouts to shareholders next year.
"There is a careful optimism," the agency quoted Yngen as saying. Husqvarna will resume its payout to shareholders next year "if nothing extraordinary happens," the agency said.
"He wasn't specific about 2009, he was speaking more in general terms," said Husqvarna spokeswoman Asa Stenqvist. "But of course we want to give a dividend."
The company said in February this year it would raise around 3 billion Swedish crowns ($433 million) in a rights issue as it swung to a bigger-than-expected fourth-quarter 2008 loss.
It did not pay a dividend for 2008.
