compared with the Countax lawn tractor that's set a speed record of just more than 87 mph.
Countax is a British lawn mower manufacturer acquired by Ariens Co., of Brillion.
Last weekend in the U.K., a Countax riding mower set a speed record of 87.33 mph, topping the record of 80.6 mph set by a Snapper mower in 2006 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Snapper is owned by Briggs & Stratton Corp. of Wauwatosa.
Countax had hinted it was aiming for 100 mph. Perhaps that was wishful thinking, for the moment, according to Service Dealer magazine, which covers the outdoor power equipment industry.
