Yoji “George” Hamawaki, who established the Kawasaki brand in the U.S. and played a role in its dealer development, passed away April 18, 2023. According to a May 2 report from PowerSports Business, Hamawaki was also responsible for bringing Kawasaki production to the U.S., making it the first Japanese manufacturer with an assembly plant in the U.S.
"Mr. Hamawaki worked closely with his American team including [Alan] Masek and Paul Collins to increase the brand’s marketing, promotion, and advertising. Kawasaki debuted the 'Let the Good Times Roll' advertising campaign and tagline, a theme that remains integral to the DNA of the brand," the report said.
