Meet the Inventor of the Rotary Blade Lawn Mower
If you have a manual push mower today, it likely uses design elements from 19th Century African American inventor John Albert Burr's patented rotary blade lawn mower, according to an article from ThoughtCo. In his patent, issued on May 9, 1899, Burr said he intended to "provide a casing which wholly encloses the operating gearing so as to prevent it from becoming choked by the grass or clogged by obstructions of any kind."
JCB Exec: Electric Power's Place is with Small Equipment
In a Feb. 10 article from Equipment World, Tim Burnhope, chief innovation and growth officer for JCB, said the limitations of battery technology mean the future of equipment electrification will be in compact machines. While battery power has worked well with JCB's compact excavators and telehandlers, its future in the company's larger products remains unlikely.
The Story of Walker Manufacturing's First Lawn Mower
In the second half of Farm Innovation's interview with Bob Walker of Walker Manufacturing, he describes the moment when he and his father, Max Walker, decided they needed to build their own lawn mower. That moment, which would become the foundation of Walker Manufacturing, was born out of one thing: dissatisfaction with the lawn mowers they were already using on their own lawns.
Behind the Scenes of a Kubota Canada Marketing Photoshoot
In a Feb. 9 video posted to the dealership's YouTube channel, Chris Huckabone with Ontario Kubota dealer Huckabones Equipment gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Kubota Canada's photoshoot of some upcoming products at their dealership. Though he can't show us what the new products are, he does get to interview Kubota Canada's Retail Marketing Manager Marsha Gittens.
