The Rise and Fall of McCulloch, America's Chainsaw King
Robert McCulloch built the most dominant chainsaw company in American history from a $1 million wartime engine operation. By 1971, his company had produced three million chainsaws, pioneered the world's first one-man saw, the world's first electric-starting chainsaw, and the world's lightest production saw at just 6.5 pounds. He did not stop at chainsaws. He built an entire city in the Arizona desert on land nobody else wanted, then shipped a 137-year-old London bridge stone by stone across the Atlantic and the Mojave Desert to put that city on the map.
