The latest report from the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers shows unit sales declines in October for under 40 horsepower 2WD tractors in the U.S. and Canada compared with last year. Sales of 40-100 horsepower 2WD tractors were down in the U.S. and up in Canada compared to last year.

Here are more details regarding unit sales in the U.S.:

  • Under 40 horsepower 2WD tractors were down 3.9% in October compared to last year and up 5.3% year to date.
  • 40-100 horsepower 2WD tractors were down 4.9% in October compared to last year and up 0.6% year to date.
  • Overall, 2WD drive tractors including 100+ horsepower were down 3.5% in October compared to last year and up 3.9% year to date.

Here are more details regarding unit sales in Canada:

  • Under 40 horsepower 2WD tractors were down 11.6% in October compared to last year and up 1.1% year to date.
  • 40-100 horsepower 2WD tractors were up 6.1% in October compared to last year and down 8.6% year to date.
  • Overall 2WD drive tractors including 100+ horsepower tractors were down 7.2% in October compared to last year and down 4.1% year to date.

“This month’s numbers show cause for caution in the gg sector,” said Curt Blades, senior vice president of Ag Services at AEM. “We’re hoping a return to stability in global trade policies and practices occurs soon in order to ease uncertainty for North American farmers, and ultimately, agricultural equipment manufacturers.”
