The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall alert for John Deere's XUV590 ad XUV590 SF Gators on May 20, 2021, because of an error in the ECU software that can result in the speedometer and several speed-related safety systems not functioning as designed, posing a crash hazard and risk of injury.

According to the recall alert, about 90 units are impacted by the recall. The Gators were sold by John Deere dealers from October 2020 through April 2021. Deere and Co. has received 4 reports of speedometers malfunctions, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free software update.  John Deere is contacting all known purchasers directly.
