According to a Nov. 1 report from Equipment World, Bobcat launched its new 2-Ton 19e Electric Excavator at Bauma 2022. The manufacturer had originally introduced the concept at Bauma in 2016 and released the 1-ton E10e in 2019.

Mike Vought, Doosan Bobcat EMEA vice president of product management told Equipment World the E19e would start shipping to European customers in Jannuary. Information on a North American launch has yet to be revealed.

"Housing fewer parts than diesel engines, electric motors lead to reduced maintenance and repair costs. The batteries do not require any routine maintenance and are internally protected from overcharging," the report said, "In addition, Bobcat notes that recharging them leads to significant cost savings over diesel, and contractors can use the electric equipment to become eligible for projects in which priority is given to those using sustainable business practices."
