On Sept. 4, Generac Power Systems hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new 500,000-square-foot distribution facility in Augusta, Ga., which the company reports is one of Generac’s largest facilities to date. Generac products distributed from this distribution center include home standby generators, portable generators, transfer switches and clean energy parts. Extensive investments and renovations were made to the facility to optimize for the safety and efficiency of the operation.
“This facility is Generac’s 5th distribution center in the United States,” according to Ricky Bellian, Senior Director Global Distribution, who spoke at the event. “Each one is a testament to our commitment to our customers and the communities we call home.”
The Augusta Distribution Center represents Generac’s focus on serving the end consumer smarter and faster, according to a summary of the facility provided by Generac representatives to Rural Lifestyle Dealer editors. The facility and its capabilities reinforce the company’s commitment to responding to customers impacted by weather events or power outages when they need the support most.
This new facility serves as a strategically important distribution center for Generac as the company’s main facility for storm distribution, notes the company. It further adds that this new distribution center allows for the more timely and efficient distribution of vital products to customers impacted by weather related events or power outages in the southeastern United States. Augusta’s location enables the product to be mere hours from the field and the customers who need the products most.
“This new facility serves as a strategically important distribution center for Generac as the company’s main facility for storm distribution,” says Kyle Raabe, Executive VP & President of Consumer Power.
At the ribbon cutting event, Raabe offered additional comments about the significance of this facility and the role Augusta plays in Generac’s work. Excerpts follow:
“At Generac, we often use the phrase ‘The best time to prepare for a storm is well before it happens.’ We live those words every day and you can see it in our actions with the opening of this distribution center here in Augusta, Georgia. We know when a storm hits, leaving tens of thousands or millions without power, they need back up power and they need it fast. We also know that weather-related power outages are not going away. In fact, in the last 23 years, 80% of major U.S. power outages were a result of weather-related events such as hurricanes. Nearly all of these hurricanes have impacted the Southeastern United States from North Carolina all the way through Houston, TX. This is why this distribution center is important… This distribution center allows for the more timely and efficient distribution of vital products, like portable generators, to customers impacted by weather related events or power outages in the southeastern United States…We’re proud to be investing in our commitment to serve the needs of our customers when they need us most, and we’re honored to become a part of the Augusta community.”
