As part of its ongoing commitment to those who serve the land, Stihl Inc. is proud to announce a new partnership with Team Rubicon – a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disasters. Through this collaboration, Stihl Inc. is donating $65,000 in battery-powered chainsaws and other equipment to Team Rubicon’s West Branch Wildland Crew, as well as $10,000 to Team Rubicon’s Ready Reserve Fund, which enables rapid deployment of disaster response teams.
“Stihl has always built tools for those who put purpose before praise – people who don’t just work the land, but fight to protect it,” said Lindsy Hooper, Director of Public Relations and Business Events for Stihl Inc. “In Team Rubicon and their force of 200,000+ Greyshirt volunteers, we see that same dedication to mission, grit, and community. By providing dependable, battery-powered tools and supporting the Ready Reserve Fund, we’re ensuring their crews can hit the ground running to help communities the moment disaster strikes.”
Team Rubicon’s Ready Reserve Fund not only supports high-profile disaster recovery, but they power low-attention disaster response, providing relief to families and small towns that might otherwise be overlooked. While chainsaws are just one tool in Team Rubicon’s disaster response toolkit, they serve a vital role in early recovery – clearing roads, homes, and public spaces with fallen trees and debris. Stihl’s battery-powered chainsaws provide a low noise, low maintenance tool perfect for disaster relief teams like Team Rubicon, who need to work quickly and in the toughest conditions.
“Team Rubicon has used Stihl equipment for more than a decade, employing it in some of the most demanding environments Mother Nature can throw at us,” said Drew Hanna, West Branch Director and Greyshirt volunteer. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to start using the latest in battery-technology with trusted Stihl performance. Our volunteers have been making some really technical cuts with the saws and the feedback has been outstanding.”
The partnership with Team Rubicon extends Stihl Inc.’s broader Made for America campaign — a national initiative celebrating the courageous and often-overlooked Americans who serve the land every day. From wildland firefighters and ranchers to arborists and landscapers, these professionals rely on durable, trustworthy equipment to do their jobs in the most challenging conditions.
Stihl products are sold through a network of more than 10,000 authorized local Stihl dealers. Stihl Inc., the U.S. affiliate of the global Stihl Group, employs more than 2,300 people and manufactures over 100 Stihl models at its 150-acre campus in Virginia Beach, Va.
Founded following the Haiti earthquake in 2010, the Team Rubicon organization has grown to more than 200,000 volunteers across the United States and has launched over 1,200 operations domestically and internationally. To drive equity across disaster and humanitarian services, Team Rubicon focuses on 3 areas of impact: disaster response – from mitigation to immediate response to recovery; long term recovery & workforce development – maintaining the fabric of communities through resilient building methods; and medical services – providing emergent and surge health care, WASH, and disaster risk reduction.
