MILWAUKEE — Briggs & Stratton Corp. introduces its lawn mower with its new "Mow N' Stow: engine and "Just Check & Add" technology. The new mower can be stored upright and will never require an oil change. Owners simply check and add oil when necessary.
To achieve a 70%reduced storage footprint, Briggs & Stratton continued to work closely with Toro to offer this new engine on the Toro Recycler with SmartStow, where the Mow N' Stow engine was first featured.
"Briggs & Stratton introduced both of these innovations separately over the past three years and we're now combining the technology to meet homeowner needs," says Rick Zeckmeister, vice president of engines marketing and planning at Briggs & Stratton. "Homeowners tell us that storage space and maintenance, including annual oil changes, are two of their biggest issues with outdoor power equipment. The Mow N' Stow featuring Just Check & Add solves both."
"We've seen great success with the Just Check and Add innovation on the Toro all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models, so launching it on our SmartStow models is an exciting next step," says Wade Tollison, Jr., senior marketing manager at Toro. "Our collaboration with Briggs & Stratton helps us build mowers that meet consumers' unmet needs for more storage space and easier maintenance, without compromising on mowing power, performance and productivity."
To enable the engine to be stored upright, Briggs & Stratton's engineers developed a way to prevent oil and gas from leaking out. The patented design includes new vents, oil seals and gaskets and a unique fuel tank design. The engine is available on select Toro Recycler with SmartStow mowers, which fold in three, tool-free steps to reduce overall storage space by 70%.
The Just Check & Add technology helps keep dirt and debris out of the engine and keeps the engine running cooler. Clean oil and cooler oil means slower decay and breakdown of the oil. This means that consumers need to only check the oil level and add oil as necessary. Regular scheduled maintenance must still be performed.
The new engine will be available exclusively on select Toro Recycler with SmartStow mowers at authorized Toro dealers and The Home Depot in early 2017.
