VERGENNES, Vt. — DR Power Equipment is introducing several new and improved models for 2018 of its professional-grade property maintenance tools. These include the brand’s new DR PRO-26 field and brush mower with power steering, DR PILOT trimmer/mower, and DR PILOT tow-behind leaf and lawn vacuum.

Extending the brand’s Field and Brush Mower line, the new PRO-26 Field and Brush Mower offers power steering — formerly a feature only available on the higher-tier PRO XL and PRO MAX models.

The mower’s disc brake system provides the power steering functionality. Each wheel has its own brake, which is operated by a hand lever. Squeezing the lever on one side applies the brake to that wheel, allowing the mower to pivot easily around it.  The result is better control and easier operation in a more cost-effective unit.

The DR PILOT trimmer/mower is intended to round out the lower end of the trimmer/mower product offering. Featuring a powerful 174 cc OHV manual-start DR engine, the PILOT trimmer/mower has a 22-inch cutting width and five adjustable cutting heights. The unit is the brand’s lightest, weighing only 55 pounds for easy maneuverability and transport. As with all DR Trimmer Mowers, the offset frame allows the PILOT unit to trim right up against foundations, fence lines and other obstacles.

Complementing the existing DR Power Equipment PREMIER, PRO and PRO-XL models, the new entry-level DR PILOT Leaf and Lawn Vacuum boasts the same industry-leading vacuum power customers have come to expect but with a simplified collector and chassis that makes the machine easy to operate, more versatile and more cost-effective to purchase.

The PILOT’s 200 gallon-capacity collector uses buckled cloth closures in the rear. Unloading is a matter of simply unfastening a few buckles, unlatching the lift handle and raising the front of the collector. The 55-degree dump angle ensures the reservoir will empty cleanly every time.

The underlying trailer on the PILOT model is a flatbed instead of the three-sided cart featured on other DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum models. This allows users to remove the engine and tow the flatbed trailer with a riding mower or ATV for additional versatility. It’s particularly well suited to stackable and tie-down items and can haul up to 400 pounds.
