Stihl Names Christian Koestler VP of Operations

STIHL Inc., which manufactures the number one selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in America, has announced the appointment of Christian Koestler to the position of vice president of operations for STIHL Inc. effective July 1. In his new position, Koestler will be responsible for directing U.S. activities in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, materials and procurement, logistics, buildings, maintenance and quality assurance. Peter Mueller, who is currently executive vice president of operations, will remain at STIHL until October, when he retires.

Stihl Wants to Add Wind Turbines to Virginia Beach Campus

The region's largest power-tool manufacturer plans to make more use of wind energy to power its operations. Stihl Inc. has requested the city's approval to install up to seven more wind turbines at its campus off Lynnhaven Parkway. Stihl last summer put two turbines atop one of its production facilities near London Bridge Road, said Ben Hoffmann, the company's special projects manager.

Branch Manager at Northeast STIHL to Succeed Burton as VP of Sales and Marketing

Nick Jiannas will become vice president of sales and marketing at STIHL Inc., headquartered in Virginia Beach, effective July 1. He succeeds Peter Burton who has held the position since 1997 and is retiring after 30 years with the STIHL organization. Jiannas, who most recently served as the branch manager at Northeast STIHL, will be responsible for sales for the domestic and export markets, sales planning, new product development, all marketing programs, and branch operations throughout the U.S.
