Landscapers say the new rule will cost them time and money, especially during hurricane season. They say if the power goes out when they are working, it will be hard to find places to charge electric leaf blowers.

About this time 15 years ago, we were putting the finishing touches on the first ever print issue of Rural Lifestyle Dealer. In that issue, we featured our first What Rural Lifestylers Want from You feature. The story highlighted the importance of treating your rural lifestyle customers like they are just as important as your farm customers (because they are). 

"They made me feel like a second-class citizen. They weren't interested in me because I wasn't going to buy a combine. It doesn't make sense, either, because they were well situated to handle a lot of estates out here," he says. "Listen, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going to give my money to anyone that treats me like I am because I don't operate equipment for a living or because I have only seven acres. I didn't need the arrogance or irritation."
