Premium New Zealand outdoor power equipment brand Masport, has secured a North American distribution partnership for its mowers with the Integrated Distributors Network (IDN).

IDN, which consists of 6 US and 1 Canadian outdoor power equipment distributors, was founded in 2004 to provide a national distribution system for parts to North American dealers servicing Briggs & Stratton powered equipment.

IDN are also introducing a range of power products to complement the Briggs & Stratton parts business which has seen them add Masport to the offering, other IDN brands include; Dolmar, Core, Oregon and Worx.

Established over a century ago, Masport is internationally renowned for manufacturing innovative New Zealand designed and engineered outdoor power equipment. Masport is New Zealand's leading manufacturer of lawn and garden outdoor power equipment and lifestyle patio products.

The company recently introduced its unique patent pending Masport Genius lawnmower to the US market. The mower features an extra chipper blade and as well as mulching, catching and side discharging grass, can shred branches up to 1-3/8 inch in diameter turning them into mulch. The innovative Masport Genius mower also allows branches that are chipped to be fed back into the catcher for spreading as mulch.

Masport General Manager Steve Hughes says he is excited about the opportunity and that the grass cutting technology developed by the company over the last 100 years has found favour in the US market with a growing demand for their premium range of mowers in the region.

Hughes says due to climatic factors North American consumers cut their grass longer than consumers in other markets and Masport have embraced this requirement when designing mowers bound for the North American market.

"Americans cut their grass longer, Australasians shorter and the Europeans are somewhere in the middle. Each market also has a completely different set of safety standards. This means we've had to create three entirely different product ranges and over 300 different models of machines, to sell into the world market" Hughes said.

Through IDN, who sell to the US servicing dealer network, Masport mowers will be sold to high-end US customers wanting "beautifully landscaped lawns", says Hughes.

Masport products have been in demand worldwide for decades with homeowner gas powered Reel mowers sold internationally for more than 50 years.

The high-quality Reel mowers also incorporate a rear roller which produces a professional manicured stripe lawn finish. Other gas powered products included in Masport's North American range are their "Home Gardener", a unique out front tined Tiller, and a four wheeled Lawn Edger.

Masport exhibits annually at the GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky (Booth Number 10182) with assistance from the IDN group on the stand.
