Update: Messick's Farm Equipment's 2013 Christmas light show display raised $26,729 for five local charities. The musically choreographed animated Christmas light show ran for 23 nights in December.

Messick’s Farm Equipment in Elizabethtown has begun its annual light show that includes more than 70,000 lights covering the store, light poles and 36 tractors synced to holiday music.

The show runs nightly every 15 minutes 6:30-10 p.m. through Dec. 29, except for Dec. 24-25. The show is free.

Volunteers are on site to direct traffic and to collect donations that will benefit Paxton Street Home, Water Street Rescue Mission, Love Inc., Mennonite Disaster Service and the Elizabethtown Community Cupboard.

Messick’s marketing coordinator Ryan Pabon said more than 200 cars visited the first weekend the show was open. Pabon said more than $2,000 was collected for the nonprofits.

Messick’s is a retailer providing sales and service for brands including New Holland, Case IH and Kubota. There are stores Elizabethtown, Lancaster, Abbottstown, Halifax and Carlisle.
