While driving in to “piddle” on a snowy Saturday morning on one of the few snow days in Tennessee, my mind wandered back to college in English Lit 300 something decades ago. Sadly, I can remember those days better than for what I came in to do at work today.

Seems there was this poet with the ironic name of Robert Frost, who wrote a poem about Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

I thought it fun and challenging to plagiarize his well known, in the day before cell phones and streaming TV, poem. I only wish that when the weatherpersons or the actual prognosticator today, computer modules, forecast blizzards, people would clean tractors off our lot like they do milk and bread from the grocery shelves. But I digress again. My (OK Robert's) poem —

Stopping by a Tractor Dealership on a Snowy Day

Who's dealership this is, I think I know, even though the sign is covered over with snow.
No one will stop in today, so I just gaze out the window and watch tractors seats fill up with sleet.
My dearest wife must think it queer, for me to be at the dealership near
Between the rows of equipment and stuff for sale that on ground is frozen well
On this, the snowiest day of the year.

I put in the phone our number and dial, we have not heard it ring in quite a while
Alas there is no quaint mistake, it rings, so it seems only I am awake.
The only other sound’s the thunder of our county's trucks that dump,
With the added-on blades that scrape snow and in potholes bump.

Well these words are barely semi funny, neither dark nor deep,
But I have promises made today to keep,
Of paperwork to complete before I sleep,
And more warranties to file before I sleep.

P.S. — If you look and can't find Tennessee on the map after this blizzard, you might “check on us” as we say. We are not well equipped for you'se guys’ northern weather Still wishing you miles of smiles, profits and warmer weather.
