Continuing solid demand for many of the new products handled by many rural lifestyle equipment dealers, including compact, utility and garden tractors as well as ATVs, is helping to maintain the valuations of used equipment.
For the third year in a row, lawn and garden equipment maintained its top spot on farm equipment dealers’ ranking of “Best Bets” list of products they believe will increase unit sales in 2017. And not too far behind are compact tractors (under 40 horsepower) in the #2 spot, and #5 on the list is utility tractors (40-100 horsepower).
Sales of 2WD tractors under 40 horsepower gained 16.8% in September (compared to last year), with year-to-date sales up 11.7%. September sales of 2WD tractors 40-100 horsepower were up 3.9% year-over-year, but year-to-date sales were down 4.3%.
Total equity percentage increased almost 1.75% from a year ago and gross profit margin percentage increased last year. The overall net income before tax decreased 1%.
U.S. retail sales for 2WD tractors under 40 horsepower gained 21.2% in August compared to a 6.3% decline in July, with year-to-date sales up 11.0%, according to the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
Comparing the results of the 2013 Dealer-Manufacturer Relations Survey to the most recent survey, Kubota had the biggest drop in ratings, but still rated highest overall of the major manufacturers.
Net earnings per share for the quarter were up 6.4% to a record $1.00. Professional segment net sales were up 1.4%. Residential segment net sales were down 4.6%.
